Strategic Communications Manager
Our Opportunity:
Our
clients' needs are growing and we are expanding our team to add a Strategic Communications Manager responsible for the development and implementation of strategic communications
campaigns. This position includes the
following responsibilities:
- Client Counsel: Lead
client account teams, conduct the Discovery Process, and develop communication
campaigns/plans to include analysis, strategies, tactics, timeframes and
budgets. Serve as the client contact and
manage day-to-day client relationships, providing strategic counsel and
supervision for all facets of campaigns, including research, writing, special
events, collateral and media relations.
Manage client issues and crisis situations when necessary.
- Campaign Support/Project Management: Monitor
campaign budgets and manage internal reporting processes and client
receivables. Analyze campaign
initiatives and report results to the internal team and client. Manage and coordinate the efforts of team
members, freelancers and outside specialists who work with the client or the
firm.
- Team Development: Effectively
manage an account team to meet client needs.
Serve as a mentor by contributing to the continual coaching and
development, performance management, productivity and recruitment process of
employees. Participate in strategic management
initiatives of the firm as requested.
- Business Development/Community
Relations: Actively participate in new business
development efforts through research, networking and current client development. Create and conduct presentations to current
and potential clients. Represent the
firm in professional associations and community events to augment the firm's
presence in the business community.
Qualifications &
Skills:
- Bachelor's
degree in journalism, communications, business or a related field is
required. MBA or a master's degree is
desirable.
- 7-plus
years of experience and demonstrated success in executive communications,
marketing and strategic plans. Agency experience is preferred.
- Exceptional
skills and experience in written and oral communication, project management and
a solid understanding of social media required.
- Issues
and crisis management expertise is highly desirable.
- Exceptional
project management skills, managing multiple projects and deadlines with strict
attention to quality and detail required.
- Excellent
listening skills. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Develops alternative solutions. Works
well in group problem- solving situations.
- Demonstrated
leadership qualities and solid management skills with the ability to build a
strong, high-performing team. Develops
subordinates' skills and encourages growth, provides regular feedback. Inspires
and motivates others to perform well. Must enjoy role as a mentor.
- Strong
computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
required.
- Intelligent,
mature self-starter who is comfortable accepting responsibility for
successfully achieving personal, team and organization strategic objectives. Proven track record of taking
ownership of projects through successful completion.
- Strong
business acumen with analytical and decision-making skills including forecasting
ability, working within approved budgets, measuring the success of team
members, monitoring team and individual goals, and sharing success factors
with the team.
- Builds
constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance,
cooperation, and mutual respect.
- A
professional whose personal values are compatible with our vision and core

Internships
Our Opportunity:
Standing Partnership offers a competitive internship three times per year to those starting their careers in communications and marketing, and ready to delve deeper into the industry. Successful intern candidates demonstrate:
- Strong verbal and written skills;
- Previous work experience in marketing, communications, public relations or a relevant field;
- A basic understanding of traditional and non-traditional public relations, marketing and/or communications;
- The ability to juggle multiple projects;
- A desire for continued learning; and
- The flexibility to work independently or with a team.
The internship is a paid, full-time position (40 hours per week). Responsibilities include assisting teams with client and internal projects, including employee newsletters, articles and press releases; research for clients and new business; team brainstorms; and project proposals.
In an agency that values learning and strives to stay on the cutting edge of the marketing communications industry, interns must be willing to immerse themselves in continued learning and apply what they learn to their work. Standing Partnership invests in the professional development of its interns and uses the internship program as a way to grow and mentor those new to the field.
