My first encounter with Standing Partnership was approximately 17 years ago. At the time, I was working for another company and Standing Partnership was renting office space from us. One of my responsibilities was to answer the phones for Standing. While Cathy only had a staff of maybe four people, it didn’t take long before I knew the company would continue to grow. This was a company that cared deeply for their clients and staff. Before long, Cathy and her team outgrew that office space and moved across the street. Lucky for me R. (the person I worked for) happened to be a mentor to Cathy, so I was able to see her often. Over the years I watched Standing Partnership flourish.
About eight years ago, R. developed a terminal illness. Because it was just the two of us in the office, I knew that at some point I would have to find another job. While R. was in remission, I learned that Cathy was going to hire an assistant. I called her and we talked briefly. During our brief conversation, Cathy said that she was willing to talk in generalities, but that she didn’t want to go behind R’s back, and we needed to talk with him. I wholeheartedly agreed. That conversation just reinforced what I already knew about Cathy and Standing Partnership – unbelievable integrity.
I spoke with R. and he understood. He gave both of us his approval to talk further, and offered to assist in any way he could. After I was hired, Cathy told me she understood how much R. relied on me, and that I could work for him as long as necessary to find and train a replacement. I can’t begin to express how much this meant to me. Again, it reinforced something else I already knew about Cathy and Standing Partnership – a lot of compassion.
So I’ve come full circle. As Standing’s human resources and office manager, I still, at times, answer the phones, I still watch the company grow and I still see the dedication, integrity and compassion that all team members have for each other and our clients.

Linda, you neglected to add that you share Standing’s sentiment and practice these same core values daily. Your integrity and compassion are an asset to the organization so it comes as no surprise that you’ve been there for 17+ years. Congratulations to you for such dedication.
