Bidding You Farewell

By: Robin Anderson | 12/30/2008

My past six months at Standing have provided me with an educational, fun and worthwhile experience that has helped to lay the groundwork for my career in communications. I have collaborated with a slew of fantastic communicators, and I know that I have grown as a professional and as a person because of this opportunity.

While reflecting on my time spent at 540 Maryville Centre Drive, Suite 100, I thought some of you might enjoy reading my feedback about my experience as a member of the Standing Partnership team:

  • Never before have I had the opportunity to actively participate in so many great projects and client work. This internship has allowed me to learn about a variety of business sectors while helping the team successfully meet our clients' needs.
  • I am certain that my writing skills have improved over the past six months ... how could they not? Working with this staff of dynamic writers, I have been using their feedback and suggestions not only to improve my client work, but for my own self-improvement as well.
  • My knowledge of social media has increased exponentially thanks to a variety of client projects, my experiences posting on the "Where Do You Stand?" blog and my tech-savvy colleagues from whom I have received many answers to social media-related questions.
  • I have been able to gather some great ideas through my participation in team brainstorm sessions. These "HeadStands" served as a great way for me to learn about the many successful tools and tactics that Standing has used in the past, and I tried to absorb all of the ideas thrown to the group for discussion.
  • During my internship, I have received client responsibilities - and support from my colleagues - like never before. The team always is available to answer my questions, provide me with suggestions and give me open feedback; this support has helped me improve as a professional and has been much appreciated during the past six months.
  • On a side note, I also wanted to mention that Standing is the first place I have worked where I have had my own office ... AND a door! I have been spoiled by these luxuries, but you won't hear me complaining!

I have learned the importance of giving and receiving feedback, so I hope you have found my comments to be somewhat insightful. By giving you this feedback, however, it has become official: the time has come for me to move on.

To my delight, you will no longer be able to refer to me as "Intern Robin," though my internship experiences throughout the past three years have allowed me to become quite comfortable with the name. Instead, I would prefer you to call me "Communications Coordinator Robin," because as of Jan. 12, 2009, I will be fulfilling this role at Mehlville School District.

I really appreciate all of the help you have provided me during my stay, and thanks for making Standing Partnership a great place to work!
