The Newsplex and specifically Jim Hanchett, news director, has started an interesting segment on WCAV CBS-19 in Charlottesville. Jim's idea was to begin to connect the TV watching audience with the local blogosphere by featuring a different area blog each week. The segment, which appears Tuesdays during the 6:30p.m. newscast (and is provided by yours truly), attracts and recognizes what is a very vibrant and diverse blogging community.
When Jim first shared his idea, and asked me to participate in the project, I nearly applauded. It's refreshing to see a news organization in this market concentrating on local news and sharing space with other local content producers (bloggers) that make this community so great.
Here's the Blog of the Week clip from CBS-19. What do you think of this approach by a television news group making the effort to integrate traditional TV viewers and a vast, potential online audience?
