There's a niche social network for every interest out there. Flixter has 63 million registered users, LinkedIn has 27 million and anyone can create their own niche network using Ning.
Oscar Mayer recently introduced the newest niche network: Bacon Lovers' Talk (BLT for short, of course), the place to share, discuss, and participate around all things bacon. It seems to be a part of a larger media strategy, but based on a search for "bacon" using Yelp, the network will not have difficulty attracting fans.
It's the Web's very own Field of Dreams: "If you fry it, they will come."

Awesome! I signed up to be notified. I’m a big fan of bacon, and I can’t wait to chat it up with my fellow bacon lovers!
