GRI Chief Executive Shares Perspective

For anyone interested in the GRI movement, be sure to check out the latest from Triple Pundit.

Ernst Ligteringen, GRI Chief Executive, gives his perspective on the reasons for the more robust reporting requirements noted in the G4 draft. GRI’s primary goal: more focused reporting on relevant issues.

As a reporter, it’s interesting to see the concentration on quality versus quantity. Previously, my personal opinion was that G4 might steer some companies away from reporting due to the intricate details required for reporting. This piece makes GRI’s intent more clear.

What are your thoughts? Does the G4 present too many obstacles for reporters? Or, are you up for the challenge?

Great post, Kristin! What an interesting interview. I especially liked Ernst Ligteringen’s comment that data is important, but piles of data don’t make much sense unless the company tells a very clear story with the data.

My favorite line of all: “the guidelines must be flexible enough to speak to universal truths while leaving room for individual variation.” Well said, Mr. Ligteringen.

    Thanks for sharing this!
