I’m passionate about health literacy, so I was sad that I had to miss Health Literacy Missouri‘s recent Twitter Town Hall discussion about how to communicate with the media and general public with health literacy in mind.
Luckily, they created a summary of the Town Hall’s tweets.
There were great discussions about strategies for working with the media to communicate health messages and ideas for better reaching the public on important health issues.
Here are some of the helpful resources pointed out during the discussion:
- Healthfinder.gov now provides sample tweets and other social media tips to help promote national health awareness dates.
- The CDC has a Health Literacy Online Guide for tips for improving web content.
- Healthy Roads Media has good multilingual sources of health info in plain language.
- Health Literacy Missouri has an online library with more than 10,000 resources.
