This is my story of how I met and re-met Standing Partnership. In the mid-1990s I began my public relations career with an internship and entry-level position at an integrated agency in Clayton, Mo. In fact, while I was there, we shared some office space with Standing Partnership. At the time, I had no idea that we were competing agencies. Call me naive and new to St. Louis!
After some time at an agency in San Diego, my family decided to check out the St. Louis scene with the possibility of moving back in a year or so. I made some calls to find out about the business climate and ANOTHER competing agency told me that Standing was one of the few agencies to "survive the dip" and come out on top. I remember being really impressed that a competitor would sing the praises of the Standing team. So I gave 'em a call.
What happened next was divine providence, in my eyes. A position was open to help with hospitality and issues management work---two areas I love. I participated in two screening phone calls, an emailed writing test, reference checks across the miles and found that Standing was a phenomenal fit for me. Work-life balance with a varied client load? Check. Involved management? Check. Solid clients? Check. A moral compass? Check.
In my only personal interview, I met Mistie and Dan, who both endeared me and challenged me. I remember that Dan proposed a crisis that I had to develop a response on the spot. Talk about keeping me on my toes! I knew that I'd be able to dig in right away... and I've been in the trenches ever since.

And, obviously, you endeared yourself to us from the very beginning as well! What a great addition to Standing you’ve been - I’m so glad a competitor steered you our way.
