Imagine you want to reach a small but influential group of people and engage in more personal dialog than a Webinar allows ... enter Skype, the free, online video- and voice-conferencing and file-sharing tool that is moving from primarily personal use to more commercial use.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta is offering a contest using Twitter and Skype to promote his new book. What a great way to drive conversations around particular subject matter (and in this case, promote book sales) and reward enthusiasts! The winner gets 12 books and a Skype conversation (presumably with a book club). Sure, a Webinar could potentially reach more people, but it’s certainly not the same. How could your business use Skype to target new audiences or engage in more meaningful conversations with existing audiences?

I totally agree about the eye contact advantage that you present on your website, so thanks for sharing that.
This past weekend my husband used Skype to talk to relatives he found online (through Facebook)in England and his mom in Canada. And a day after I posted my entry, my company used Skype to help our colleague who was under the weather “attend” a company retreat. It’s definately the next best thing to being there!

Hi Tammy, we have developed hardware for professional business video communication like Skype (http://www.iris2iris.com/en-UK/home.htm).
We see a growing market. More and more companies are using Skype for internal communication and remote sales and consultancy.
It is possible to integrate a skype button on your website. We also integrated this aplication on our website to offer customers a possibility to contact us directly. We always use video to personalize our message.
I hope Skype is solving the patent issues with Joltid quickly, so they will be THE business communication for the future.
