If I Can Do It, You Can Do It Too

Look Ma ... I'm an HTML programmer. Ok, maybe "programmer" is a bit of a stretch, but over the holiday break, I successfully conquered creating a bulleted list in a blog post ... with a little assistance from Google and a helpful blogger.

For those of you who blog or might be considering blogging, you may feel challenged when it comes to formatting posts. Wordpress is my publishing platform of choice for my personal blog. It's fairly user friendly ... b for bold ... i for italicized ... you get the picture. And speaking of pictures ... inserting them isn't too difficult once you get the hang of it.

But the bulleted list has eluded me for more than a year. I'd occasionally try to insert them in the "visual" editor tab, only to get bulleted lists that weren't indented or tabbed, which made them tough to read ... and being tough to read generally defeats the bullet list's whole purpose in life.

As I was writing a post on the night before Christmas Eve, I decided I was going to solve my bullet issue once and for all. Enter trusty Google. It took a few tries to land on the right search terms, but I eventually found this easy-to-use post on using HTML code to create bullets in Wordpress by "thebarefoot."

Notice I said "easy-to-use" instead of "easy-to-understand." HTML isn't something I ever expect to understand, but there are plenty of techies out there who are willing to share their knowledge with the techno-challenged, like me. It just takes curiosity and maybe a bit of tenacity to track down the solutions and the ability to cut and paste the code, which is exactly what I did, and voila ... bullets (or whatever other formatting need you might have ... Google it and you'll likely find it).

And ...

  • If I can
  • Do it
  • You can
  • Too!

I too have struggled with the same issue lately.  Appreciate you sharing the link to that article - really makes it pretty simple and straight-forward!
