On my flight from Charlottesville to Charlotte, N.C. yesterday, I had a flight attendant who clearly loves his job. He jazzed up the boring announcements and joked with all the passengers. He had the two ladies next to me in stitches. It was refreshing.
It reminded me how energizing it is to be around someone who is so totally excited about her job. Last week I was on a conference call with my colleague Christi. Just back from an exciting social media conference, I could hear her enthusiasm jumping right across the phone lines.
It's just thrilling to hear that. It made me fall in love with my job all over again.

Ha! I just drafted the first post on the conference—all about the excitement. I also heard an enlightening, but sad story from my mom the other day. She works part-time at the “lowest rung” of an enormous corporate bank—there are new corproate rules and regulations each week, with no input or feedback from the people who are being called upon to do the work. If only they were recognized and valued for their individual strengths and skills! Negativity can be contagious, too.
