Six Ways to Use Social Media to Promote Your Brand and Your Business

Recently, I presented to two great groups: Social Media Club Charlottesville and the C'ville Entremoms. The two came together for networking and to accommodate my schedule, since they both wanted me to speak and we could only find a single date that worked. There is, of course, some crossover between the groups as the entrepreneurial moms are interested in using social media to support their businesses and SMCCville is interested in increasing their presence in our community.

The presentation was well-attended -- I'll let some of the tweeted coverage and the reactions to my talk speak for themselves here, and of course, I'm sharing my presentation via SlideShare (social media -- it's all about the sharing of information folks, even if you can't be there live and in person).

As usual, I had a great time talking at length on my favorite topic and enjoyed meeting in person some of the people I had previously only known online, including Renee Revetta, Dana Adams and Vijay Berry Owens.

Special thanks go to Todd Wickersty, the president-elect of SMCCville (see his post about the presentation); Angie Brement, the queen bee of C'ville Entremoms; Mary Beth Bowen, my colleague and a C'ville Entremom; and our hosts, OpenSpace Coworking, for putting the event together.

I enjoyed meeting you (and hearing your presentation!) as well, Marijean.  Have a happy Thanksgiving.

Hey there Marijean,

Came across this post as it’s the first Google image that comes up associated with my name (I work at an SEO company, so I have no remorse in Googling myself). Great post, and it was wonderful meeting you that evening, too.  Hope we can get together again soon!
