If you’re a frequent reader of our blog, you know we talk a lot about how health care organizations can use social media to connect to their audiences. Here in St. Louis, we’ve been impressed to see that many health care organizations have embraced these tools.

We’ve assembled a quick guide to help you like, follow and connect with health care leaders in the St. Louis region.  Please let us know if we’ve missed anyone!

The Saint Louis Regional Health Commission

The RHC is a non-profit organization working to increase access to health care for people who are medically uninsured or underinsured.  Connect with them on Facebook.

The Missouri Foundation for Health

Fantastic post. This makes me wonder if orthodontists or obstetricians in private practice are connecting with their patients this way… at least through major treatment phases? Is HIPPA a problem?

I am connected with two optometrists using social media pretty effectively so I would not be surprised if orthos and OBs are following suit. Connecting with patients, providing general health and wellness information, and being available as a resource in the spaces patients occupy is very smart. HIPPA is not a problem, Christi since doctors will take any doctor-to-patient counseling out of public view.

Thanks for your comments, Christi & Marijean!

I think it will be interesting to see what best practices and even legal implications come out of health care providers embracing social media tools, but overall I think that providers building greater connections with patients has incredible benefits to both parties.
