Standing at BlogOrlando

In a few days, my colleague Mistie and I will be attending BlogOrlando, an unconference put on by our friend and social media partner, Josh Hallett. (Side note: if Mistie, a true southerner, had her way, this blog would have been called Where D'all Y'all Stand?) Mistie and I will be following the PR/Communciations track while our co-unconference attendee and journalist Marcia Heroux Pounds follows the Media track. (Full disclosure: Marcia is my sister.) As any conference attendee knows, it's impossible to attend every session, so for maximum unconference exposure, we'll be comparing notes during breaks. Here's the full schedule.

Shel Israel, a widely recognized social media expert and co-author (with Robert Scoble) of Naked Conversations: How Blogs Are Changing the Way Businesses Talk with Customers will provide the keynote.

BlogOrlando registration will close this Friday, Sept. 21. If you can't make it to Orlando, take a look at the schedule and let us know what you'd most like to learn more about. We're looking forward to the BlogOrlando experience and will be sharing what we learn in this space.

As a blogger and novice coder, I think it’s fantastic that Mark Jaquith will be leading a session about WordPress. It’s a tool that is enabling businesses large and small alike to blog, post news and maintain admin-friendly Web pages. I hope that one of you will be able to attend his session (or at least grab some handouts from it) so that I can learn more; I can’t wait to join you for a social media/blogging conference (or unconference) sometime soon!

I can’t wait to compare notes from Corporate Communications and the Social Media Revolution, September 26-28, 2007… I’m hoping that Ragan delivers on its promises!
