It's back-to-school season again, and Standing is excited to be participating once again in KidSmart's Push for Pencils campaign. KidSmart is a local nonprofit that supplies
45,000 St. Louis-area children with basic school supplies that they could not afford otherwise.
Last year, Standing and our fellow Maryville Centre tenants collected 2,541 pencils, pens, notebooks, folders, backpacks, glue sticks, etc. This year, our goal is to hit 3,000 items!
In addition to our usual collection sites in the Maryville Centre office park, we're hosting a Pizza for Pencils lunch (Standing staff only, sorry!). Anyone who brings in $10 or more in school supplies will be treated to some yummy Dewey's pizza. We're also playing bingo at $1 per card with the proceeds going to KidSmart. (This is our second official charity bingo event at Standing - we got hooked last year playing for the United Way!)
What charities or organizations do you support? How do you get staff/others involved? We'd love to hear!
If you're interested in joining the Push for Pencils, you can donate (click here), find a drop-off location near you (click here), or just bring an extra pack of pencils the next time you visit us.
[KidSmart's most-needed supplies are: pencils, markers, crayons, glue, loose-leaf paper, scissors, spiral notebooks, backpacks, colored pencils, two-pocket folders, pens and supply boxes.]
