Not long ago, I read this fascinating story. I even had a great blog post drafted in my head about agritourism and ag marketing. And then I started typing.
I wrote 90% of the post, re-read my post and then scrapped it. And this isn't the first time it's happened.
Thankfully, I know that I'm not alone. I've talked to colleagues and friends who face the same writer's block. And I think this challenge has actually helped me understand my clients that much better. We often hear about blogging challenges... not enough time, lack of ideas, and the list goes on. So, how do we overcome these challenges? Good question! I polled our office for the top three ways.
1. Read, Read, Read - It's the best way to find new and interesting topics to share on your blog. I think I read three times (or more) as much as I blog.
2. Write First, Edit Later - I often editing myself writing before my thoughts are on paper (or on the screen, in this case). Bad idea. Make sure every thought in your head, is written down. Then edit yourself. Then let someone else edit you.
3. Don't Hit "Delete" - That's right. Before you hit the delete button, send it on to a trusted collegue, friend or mentor for an honest second opinion. You'll often find that you are your own worst critic. And if it really is that bad, they'll tell you. Trust me.
These are just three suggestions. I know that all of you bloggers out there have others... care to share?
