I invite you to attend the upcoming Social Media Symposium at Washington University in St. Louis.
It's going to offer a great panel of speakers including Bob Duffy, Jason Fiehler, Scott Granneman, and Kurt Greenbaum, and I'm excited to be moderating the discussion next Thursday evening.
Of special interest, Bob Duffy will introduce the Saint Louis Platform, a major new online news site being launched by leading journalists in our region (mostly former Post-Dispatch reporters). According to Bob, The Platform promises to offer in-depth, high-quality news coverage in the best traditions of excellent journalism, along with all the best new media innovations.
Event details: Free and open to all, Thursday, April 3, 2008, 6:30-8:00pm, Washington University, McDonnell Hall, room 162.

Hi Todd,
McDonnell Hall is the Arts & Sciences building—nearest Forsyth. Take a look at the map of the Danforth campus on the Wash U. website: http://tour.wustl.edu/ for better directions. There’s a parking garage on campus if you can’t find street parking, but at that time of night you may be able to find a spot on Forsyth.

Cathy, I was wondering will the new online site involve the journalists engaging bloggers out in the community?

John, I’m responding on Cathy’s behalf as she’s running out to a meeting—I don’t think we know that, yet. Bob Duffy will be launching the site following the social media symposium and the event will be a great opportunity to ask him questions like this. We can come back here and post more about STL Platform as we learn more about it. Thanks for the question.

John,
I definitely plan to post highlights from the symposium afterwards. It promises to be a lively discussion with some passionate panelists. Bob Duffy will give the highlights of the plans for the Saint Louis Platform as part of his presentation on Thursday. It sounds fascinating.

Do you know which campus area this is at? I’m not familiar with where McDonnell Hall is.
