Organization seeks workshop speakers to address the future of early childhood education
What: The National Center for Parents as Teachers will celebrate its 25th anniversary during the 2009 conference to be held Nov. 8-11. The annual conference, which has shifted from its customary date in the spring to accommodate the anniversary celebration, will provide attendees with insights on the future of early childhood education, from demographic trends and population shifts to the challenges of serving a global community in a local setting. Conference workshops will address the key issues facing parenting and education today, including the impact of changing generational attitudes, ways the future economy will impact families and the programs serving them, and how technology-based learning can be used to reach and support families.
Who: More than 1,000 early childhood professionals, social workers and other family support service providers are expected to attend. Early childhood specialists and advocacy champions from the National Center for Parents as Teachers will share best practices during the four-day conference.
In addition, participants will hear keynote remarks from respected professionals including:
· Ron Clark, an award-winning educator who uses his teaching experiences in Harlem to inspire and motivate; and
· John Medina, Ph.D., a molecular biologist, professor and author whose research provides a link between the brain and factors that influence parent teaching styles.
