Social media continues to change the way people research products and services, consume the news, and communicate with each other. For Maritz, a sales and marketing organization, social media has tremendous potential to shape its corporate communications initiatives and reach potential clients.
Standing and the corporate communications team developed a strategic social media plan to complement traditional communication efforts. The team was challenged with providing a solid business rationale and addressing business goals, while setting objectives for reaching both internal and external audiences.
Standing met with key stakeholders within Maritz to present the business rationale for implementing social media strategies and to address concerns. As one component of the social media strategy, Maritz launched a blog, "Rewarding Health: Insights on Health and Wellness Programs." The blog was designed to drive conversations around health and wellness programs, the future state of the health care industry and ways to motivate employees and members to increase wellness program effectiveness. The blog also serves as a tool to encourage other subject matter experts to share their knowledge in the virtual community.
As a result of this social media strategy, Maritz has garnered nearly a dozen new business leads. The blog has also increased search engine optimization for targeted keywords and increased awareness on the importance of properly motivating employees and members to increase the impact of wellness programs.
