MS Govern Branding Solutions

Challenge

In early 2008, Harris Computers merged two of its companies - GEMS and PG Govern - in order to offer a more complete suite of products and services to its clients in the public sector. After deciding that the new company would go to market as MS Govern, Harris Computers partnered with Standing Partnership to develop the new brand, messaging and marketing materials for MS Govern.

Strategy and Action

The Standing team conducted qualitative research, interviewing leadership and other staff at the GEMS and PG Govern locations and identifying the qualities that define the product, culture and vision for the organization. Standing also evaluated brand positioning and marketing efforts of the competition. After reviewing MS Govern’s assets, Standing developed positioning and messaging that would distinguish the company’s service from others in the same space. 

Standing partnered with a creative firm to develop the new brand identity including logo, color palette and brand imagery that would bring the positioning to life. Standing and the creative partner developed new marketing materials, including a Website, to launch during the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) 102nd annual conference, an event that features recognized leaders in government finance. 

Results

Through various touch points such as the pre-show mailers, trade show booth, literature, giveaways and an interim Website, MS Govern reached over 4,000 finance professionals during the GFOA annual conference. This influential group of attendees represented municipal, county, state, provincial and federal levels of government across the U.S. and Canada and spend a total of more than $1.9 trillion on goods and services annually.
